Volunteer

We hope to see you at one of our events, we’ll welcome you with warm smiles, open arms, and maybe a hug (or 150+ of them!) Check out our past events for more information on what to expect with donations, location/parking, and our purpose for the day.

Becoming part of our family allows you to share moments of joy with the many families and their children living in Skid Row. We find these experiences imprint upon the life experiences of the less fortunate, simply by offering your service and a smile.

Enjoy Giving Back to the Community

When you volunteer at one of our outreach events, you will receive many hugs and a t-shirt, but more importantly, you become a member of our family.  In one day, you will have the opportunity to experience the kindness and love we have for one another and the difference it makes in the lives of the families and volunteers.

A Loving Family

We understand that safety may be a concern.  In order to ensure the well-being of our volunteers, we’ve partnered with the police department to offer constant patrols in the area, in addition to many incredible security volunteers standing by as well.  Fortunately, our volunteers haven't experienced a dangerous or negative situation in our nine (9)+ years of service.

Programs

  • Day of Service

On the last Sunday of every month, our Chilo Family serves approximately 1,000 guests, gives over 2,000 pieces of clothing, shoes, and (on Christmas) toys for our homeless families and individuals in the heart of skid row at San Julian Park located in the Skid Row Neighborhood of Downtown Los Angeles.

  • #ChiloKids

#ChiloKids is the pride and joy of the Chilo Foundation. As a group our volunteers and amazing donors and sponsors gather funds to take homeless children on experiences and adventures to bring joy into their lives. e dedicate a day out of the month to plan different trips like Disneyland, Raging Waters and many other magical experiences. This brings them hope and love into their lives.

  • Youth Advocate Program

Youth Program is a group of teens that have experienced homelessness with their families in the past. A youth group that supports and bonds together to encourage current homeless teens that join us on our experiences and instill hope for them to continue in the difficult journey homeless families face on a daily basis.
