About Us

Our Beginning

The Chilo Foundation was established in 2011 by Louis Chavez and Alex Jimenez, who were inspired by the idea of teaching their family the value of selflessness through acts of kindness to those in need. Their journey began with Louis and Alex, along with their families, preparing and distributing over 100 sandwiches to homeless individuals in Skid Row. Although it was challenging work, Louis and Alex were committed to their promise, and the overwhelming sense of gratitude from helping those less fortunate became a gift that kept on giving.

Emboldened by their successes, Louis and Alex continued their mission by consistently providing food at the same time and location in Skid Row. This dedication created a reliable source of support that drew attention from both individuals within the community and those outside it, who wanted to contribute. Today, the infectious spirit of community and giving is still the extraordinary mission we will experience together!

500+ Volunteers Strong and Growing

As we continue to grow, the Chilo Foundation stays true to our mission and plans to partner with other organizations to build a network of volunteer services all focused on strategies to assist our homeless population. We believe this network can work as one to end homelessness for good. If we all did a little bit to help our homeless population, our dreams would soon become a reality.

“Our goal is to positively impact and influence people who are facing substandard living conditions and economic challenges. By delivering genuine love, tools, guidance, unforgettable experiences, and help, we will touch one person at a time and hopefully enable a positive change in their life path trajectory.”
